| I enjoy creating things out of Art Glass using the Tiffany method (as opposed to using lead came) - here are a few bits & pieces I've done. A Victorian style panel for a friends house A fan lamp made from slices of the mineral Blue John, for my mother Door panels in my house Ceiling lamp | |

| Those are really beautiful, do you also sell your pieces or do you make just for yourself and family.

| Oh Tom! What a wonderful gift you have indeed. I took classes about 6 years ago and learned to use the lead cam and the copper foiling method. I found cutting glass quite difficult at first, and eventually got a pistol grip oil filled cutter which helped me apply more pressure. You have made me want to dig out my tools again Mind you obtaining the glass is tricky here. I might just have to make do with the Paint Shop Pro tutorial on creating a stained glass effect for the moment to keep my appetite moist. Thank you so much for sharing your creations with us, and for finding the time to pop in Skye | |

| Thank you all for the nice comments. I do take the occasional commissions, as long as people aren't in too much of a hurry. Someone asked me to make a fan lamp featuring 2 pet chickens a few months back :-) My big plan for when I became semi retired was to spend at least 2 or 3 days a week making stuff, and do a few craft fairs with the results, but I seem to have been busier than ever I was working full time, for some reason. A lot of people don't realise how much time goes into the larger projects, which is a shock to them when you quote a price. My neighbour was interested in those 2 window panels I did, and asked if I'd make him some in a similar style. He went white when I told him there was about £300 worth of glass, and 80 hours labour involved. He never followed up on the enquiry, for some reason :-) | |

| Hi Tom, You deserve the comments, the lamp that you did for your Mother is especially worthy of praise. I know what you mean about crafting and the prices one has to charge. You either end up giving the labour for free, or next to nothing. It is a great shame, but generally crafters are nice people, and fellow crafters appreciate the time, cost and effort. I will put a picture up of my test piece later for you to have a giggle at Skye | |

| I do tatting and it depending on the piece will depend on the time etc. I was asked to make a special piece for a lady's mother. I made it and said how much it was going to cost. The woman looked at me and said she didnt want it at that price, she only thought it would be a pound or two at the maximum. I used specialist metallic yarn to say nothing of the beads and my time, and didn't think ten pounds was much to ask for, especially as it took at least three hours to make and then tidy up the ends. So after that I wouldn't do anything for others, unless it was a gift from me. But did think that obviously her mother wasnt worth the ten pounds. | |

| Here is a picture of the panel I did when I took an evening class about ten years ago. I really enjoyed doing it and would love to do more again if I could source the glass locally. The trouble with me, is that I have too many hobbies and not enough time in the day. Skye | |

| I remember showing it proudly to my brother at the time, and commenting on how the red triangles looked a bit mis-shapen. He replied that I shouldn't pull it apart and it was quite unique. Well I guess he was right, there is only one like it. Skye | |
