PostSubject: KPT collection   KPT collection EmptyThu Apr 29, 2010 11:42 am

Mmmmm not quite a happy bunny at the moment. Thought I would invest in the KPT collection and not cheap either. But can't get some of them to actually work. I was trying out the shape shifter one and wanted to see what the stained glass bit was like. Well absolutely nothing takes place. Typical of course there is no support for these plug ins, so looks like I have just chucked a lot of money down the drain. Can't seem to even find a manual of any sorts out on the internet. The help file is rather pathetic to say the least.

That is a terrible shame Tricia. But it is par for the course for companys like Corel. That is a hefty price tag as well, so I can see why you would be unhappy.

One of the big failings of software producers is to give clear, concise instructions on how to use the product. Even the instruction manuals that came with the early versions of Paintshop Pro, from JASC, leave much to be desired. If it hadn't been for the online user groups, I most likely would never have figured out how to use the program from just the manual.

Just spoken to their customer support, even though I was given the run around to start with. Was then told the KPT hadn't been tested with PSP X3 but they would get back in touch with me with regard to a refund. I won't hold my breath as that was two hours ago.

KPT (Kai Power Tools) has been going for years and started off as Kai Power Goo, a superb plugin for the eighties. I have used KPT with every version of PSP up to version 9 with no problems. I am going to try this on X3 on both Windows XP and Windows 7 to see if there is a work round.

Will post my results here.

Hi there, hope you are feeling a bit better. Well the support person eventually came back to me and he was very polite. We went through things, but a couple of them still weren't working, but the best part was he stopped and said oh goodness he was having some problems getting one of them to work, when before that it did. He did state that the KPT hasn't been tested on PSPX3 which I thought was interesting. Anyway end result is the collection is going back for a refund.
Interesting though that they are still having trouble with the download regarding the free side to the KPT. The support person just said they would send it down as an update, why when if they linked it to a download page then it should download without problems. Unless of course they are trying to get it to go straight into PSP without users having to worry.

Interesting I had a peculiar five secs with PSPX3 it started shuddering, thats the best I could describe it. Anyway it settled and I continued on, well went in to the Effects folder and noticed that the last wording was Do More and it was black as opposed to the usual greyed out. Anyway clicked on it and low and behold it brought up the free downloads for KPT. Have had to uninstall PSPX3 and reinstalled it this morning, but I see that it doesn't tell me that the KPT is available. Quite interesting, I wonder if others have noticed this and have now downloaded the freebie.
