Are you planning a dinner, BBQ, etc., for a large group and wondering how much you will require? Here is a handy tip that will help you to make sure you have enough for everyone. I regularly cook meals for from 50 to 100 people at our chuch and use the following as a guide when purchasing supplies.

1. For raw (uncooked) meat such as beef, pork or lamb, I use the following rule of thumb, a minimum of ¼lb per person boneless and ½ lb bone-in per person and then add 2 or 3 extra pounds to make sure there is enough. If you have big meat eaters attending you may want to increase the per person amount even more.

2. 40 lbs of potatoes will give approximately 60 servings of mashed.

3. Salad for up to 100. (Add or subract for this depending on how many you are preparing for)

Tomatoes 3 to 4 kg. (6 to 8 lbs)
Cucumbers 3 to 4
Carrots 3lbs (6 lbs)
Celery 1 full stock
Lettuce 10 heads
Radish 16oz (0.453kg)
Dressing 2x475ml (approx 8 oz) bottles.

Note: This info is only meant to be a guide, it is not written in stone.
